Our History

The Estate

Businesses on Brackmills truly support each other and there is an unrivalled sense of community on this Northampton estate, located just off junction 15 of the M1 and at the heart of the ‘Golden Triangle’ – an area in the East Midlands that has become renowned for its high density of distribution facilities.

  • Brackmills becomes a Business Improvement District (BID).
  • CCTV and ANPR cameras are installed.
  • Yellow lines and parking laybys are introduced.

  • Winter gritting begins.
  • Brackmills recruits its first Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).
  • New ‘Brackmills On The Move’ travel plan launched.

  • 10 new bus stops and extended bus service.
  • Brackmills BID invited to an exclusive House of Commons reception.

  • 38 new litter bins installed.
  • Wildflowers and spring bulbs planted across the estate.
  • Footpaths and cycleways upgraded.

  • Brackmills launches its second five-year BID term.
  • Three Cycle CoNNect hubs installed.
  • Estate map launched.

  • Additional winter gritting and street lamps installed.
  • Danish professionals visit Brackmills BID.

  • Brackmills website revamped, including online business directory.
  • Extra security measures funded during holidays and peak times.

  • New signage installed at the Brackmills Gateway roundabout.
  • Brackmills staff survey reveals need for more food and drink outlets.

  • Voi scooters introduced to the estate, with over 96,000 rides taken.
  • Life-saving defibrillators installed across the estate.

  • Additional landscaping on roads and roundabouts
  • ANPR cameras are upgraded

2019
  • Brackmills Industrial Estate’s third five-year term as a BID commences.
  • We invest in additional security for the estate to slot around the times our PCSO is not on shift.
  • The BID enhances security provision across the estate.

2020
  • Brackmills supports local charities and organizes a second convoy to Ukraine.
  • COVID testing unit set up on-site.
  • PCSO Paul Hurst is recruited.

2021
  • New Business Watch Scheme in partnership with Northamptonshire Police, Action Fraud and Neighbourhood Watch is launched
  • The BID funds additional landscaping, including roundabout maintenance, the lopping of overhead branches and general planting and mowing

  • Brackmills CEO Sara Homer is voted Logistics person of the Year at the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards
  • The estate’s Voi scooters are proving popular and more than 96,000 rides are taken to and/or from Brackmills

2023-2024

At our 20223 AGM we launch our renewal plans and encourage Brackmills businesses to vote YES to a further five years as a BID. In 2024 we successfully secure the YES vote. Brackmills has BID status for a further 5 years
