Sara Homer, BID CEO and Charlotte Patrick, our Vice Chair were honoured to attend a recent royal visit to Northampton Bike Park. Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh was welcomed to see and celebrate the success of the facility since its opening in 2022.

The Duchess spent time meeting with project leaders, community representatives, and local stakeholders to learn more about the positive impact the Bike Park has had on the local area. Since its launch, the park has become a much-loved space for cyclists of all ages and abilities, providing a safe, inclusive, and exciting environment for the community to enjoy.

The park was made possible thanks to significant community input, the support of local charity Northamptonshire Sport and a £250,000 investment from Sport England’s Places to Ride programme.

Brackmills BID is proud to have played a supporting role in the park’s continued success. Several companies based on the estate – including Bechtle – have volunteered their time to help with ongoing maintenance, such as cutting back vegetation and keeping the site clean and welcoming for all users. This hands-on involvement reflects the strong community spirit and collaborative ethos shared by businesses across the estate.

Sara Homer, Chief Executive of Brackmills BID, said:

It was a real privilege to be part of such a special day. The Bike Park is a brilliant example of how local spaces can be transformed into inclusive, active environments that benefit the whole community. It’s fantastic to see this facility gaining the recognition it deserves.

As a Business Improvement District, we are proud to support initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, wellbeing, and a stronger sense of community across Northampton.

We would like to congratulate everyone involved in the development and ongoing success of the Bike Park for creating such a positive and lasting legacy for the town.
